Spinal decompression surgeries are performed to treat nerves that have been compressed within the spine. This commonly occurs in the lower spine, also known as the lumbar region. Compressed nerves can be a result of a few different spinal issues, like a slipped disc, spinal stenosis, and various other injuries to the spinal area.
